Duties and Responsibilities of the Caregivers San Diego Area Families Trust:
- Assist patient with personal care and activities of daily living, safety supervision, chart in the medical record, and report to the agency RN Supervisor.
- Personal hygiene, toileting, and incontinence care
- Bathing, shaving, hair care, and routine skin care
- Oral hygiene including denture care
- Dressing and undressing
- Assistance with mobility: ambulation, transfers, positioning, and prescribed range of motion exercises
- Prevention of pressure ulcers
- Apply non-sterile, dry dressings to intact skin surfaces
- Empty or change Foley catheter bag
- Empty or change Colostomy bag
- Care of hearing aides, glasses, and prosthetic devices
- Nail care (filing ok, but no cutting nails)
- Obtain and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respirations
- Meal planning, preparation, serving, and feeding
- Measure and record “in-take” and “out-put”
- Remind or assist with pre-poured medications
- Light housekeeping, maintain a clean and healthy environment
- Home safety, emergency preparedness, CPR and Heimlich maneuver
- Chart the medical record
- May drive/escort on errands, shopping, doctor appointments
