Through the holidays, your dad has friends and family visiting frequently. Your dad appreciates having holiday gatherings with family. When the grandkids and great-grandkids visit, it can get harder to manage. The different generations all have different interests.

It doesn’t have to be that difficult. Here are some activities that you can do together that appeal to all ages.

Watch the Latest Holiday Movies Together

Make popcorn and settle in for a movie afternoon together. You could extend it into a potluck dinner later on.

Fans of “Guardians of the Galaxy” will love that the crew has their own holiday movie this year. Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord misses Christmas, and his friends all set off to track him down.

This year, the actor who played Ralphie in the 1980s “A Christmas Story” is back. He’s grown up this time, catching up with old friends, and trying to recreate the Christmas his dad gave him so many years ago. “A Christmas Story Christmas” is one newer holiday movie that families can watch together this year.

Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds teamed up for a musical retelling of “A Christmas Carol.” Reynolds plays the miserly Scrooge, and Ferrell is determined to change his attitude.

Bake Cookies

Set up cookie-making stations and make sure each child, teen, or adult has a task that they can do on their own. You could have your teens roll the dough and cut them into the right shapes. Then, you put them in the oven, and your dad helps frost them. Finally, the little kids could decorate with small candies and sprinkles.

When they’re ready, you can all have a treat as a reward. Then bag or box the rest for gifts. You could give some to neighbors, family members, or shelters looking for donations of holiday goodies.

Play Team-Based Video Games

Some video games are team-based, so one person holds the controller, while others help by giving input. Bring your teens or your family video game system and look for games like Jeopardy, Family Game Night, or Family Feud.

When the adults are cooking or doing other things, the teens can play games on their own. If there are younger kids, they could play games like Just Dance by dancing with a teen.

When the bustle and frequent holiday gatherings end, what happens? Does your dad return to not seeing anyone for weeks? It doesn’t have to be like that. Arrange companion care at home services to ensure he has someone stopping by regularly.

During these visits, he has a caregiver with him for walks, shopping trips and errands, and games at home. Arrange companion care at home by calling an expert in home care and get answers to your questions before you schedule caregiver visits.
